Good morning!

Thank you for taking the time to review this information, I sincerely appreciate the consideration.

I am interviewing for the Victim Advocate position in Student Life for a few reasons. First and foremost, I genuinely find fulfillment in the work I do to support students in my current role and would like the opportunity to focus more specifically on the aspects of this work where I find the most passion. Doing work to support survivors of gender-based violence, advocating for effective resources and policy changes, and educating students, staff, and faculty to prevent gender-based violence.

While my experience has been broad, I am confident that the skills and knowledge I can bring to this position will help me transition into a more specialized role. Such skills and experiences include (just to highlight a few):

  • Serving in an on-call rotation and being a first responder to students experiencing crisis (including but not limited to survivors of sexual assault)

    • Listen and gather information

    • Problem solve and utilize necessary resources

    • Implement necessary steps to ensure students' sense of safety and minimize opportunity for retaliation

    • Address immediate concerns; crisis management

    • Conduct initial intake and create follow up support plan

  • Educational programming development and oversight

  • Training curriculum creation and implementation

  • Support students of concern in my area

    • Build rapport, engage, empathize, and empower

    • Case management and follow-through

    • Effective and active listening

    • Resource referral and follow up

  • Multicultural competency development

  • Restorative Practices trained facilitator

The resources and ideas presented are only a drop in the bucket. This is to give you a sample of my work and not necessarily and all-inclusive picture. Please contact me if you have ANY questions or concerns about any of the presented material.
